Giveaway: Win a Audiobook from Audible.com

Hey readers we're up to Day 2 of our Audiobook Giveaway Extravaganza!

Today we're featuring a great new series and giving readers the chance to win a audiobook of their own.

Have you checked out With Baited Breath by Lorraine Bartlett? It's the first book in the Lotus Bay Mysteries.

Tori Cannon and her grandfather, Herb, return from her grandmother's funeral. With sadness, she learns that the bait shop and small motel her grandparents ran has fallen on hard times.
Jammed into one of the motel's units is the body of one of Herb's customers, his mouth filled with spikes. The victim had no enemies, except for maybe the rich woman who wanted to level his eyesore of a home. But he also had a daughter, who resents that her father wasn't a major force in her life, and some friends who were anything but friends.
Tori's friend, Kathy, arrives to help spruce up the property, and the two find themselves mixed up in the petty jealousies and deadly consequences that murder entails. Can they save the bait shop and find a murderer or will they, too, sleep with the fishes? With Baited Breath comes with the short story "Panty Raid", a Tori Cannon-Kathy Grant minimystery. Tori Cannon and her BFF, Kathy Grant, get together for a girl's weekend of wine, cookies, and laughter, but there's also the specter of a panty pincher hanging around the laundry room of the complex where Tori lives. Kathy thinks they can catch the culprit red-handed in a panty raid!

Doesn't it sound great?

Book Review: Death of a Bride and Groom by Allan J. Emerson

When the body of writer Iris Morland is discovered in full bridal array atop a giant wedding cake parade float, the little resort town of Honeymoon Falls is left reeling. Not only is its reputation as "the Romance Capital of the World" at risk, its very survival is threatened. Murder, it seems, has a chilling effect on those considering venues for potential nuptials.

Iris enjoyed betrayal, which makes half the people in town potential suspects. Among them is her husband, Kenneth, enraged after discovering her liaison with television host Arnold Reifel. Arnold's wife, Marjorie, was seething because Iris had turned Marjorie's interior decoration schemes into a very public humiliation. Then there's haughty French film auteur, Pierre Blondin, in town filming Iris's novel. Did Iris trigger his murderous wrath by opposing a nude scene featuring ninety-five-year-old actress Hermione Hopkins?

Captain Will Halsey, head of Honeymoon Falls' three-person police force, must find the killer among Iris's host of enemies. And he'll have to do it while coping with small-town politics, feuding among his subordinates, and the ferocious attentions of the media.[via Amazon]

I love small towns. They are one of the reasons I come back to cozy mysteries more than any other kind of mysteries. The picturesque small town, where all the murder and mayhem happens always intrigues me. This was part of the reason that I adored Death of a Bride and Groom so much. It is set in Honeymoon Falls', a small town with the reputation of being the "Romantic Capital of the World". What could possibly happen here? Well the murder of Iris Morland to start with, and a lot of mayhem to follow!

From the first chapter, Allan J. Emerson captured my attention and didn't let go until I turned the last page. I loved all the host of characters that are suspects, so many of them colorful and interesting, and I had a hard time trying to pick out who the murderer was!

If you're looking for a fresh new series to enjoy over the summer, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending a new voice in Canadian mysteries. Allan J. Emerson will wow readers with this fast-paced cozy mystery, with characters so memorable that you'll be looking forward to another return to Honeymoon Falls.

Book Review: Snow Way Out by Christine Husom

First in the series, Snow Way Out, introduces you to Cami, correction Camryn, Brooks. Camryn moves back to her hometown to help run the family store Curio Finds. Curio Finds, a nice shop filled with all different kinds of snow globes is adjacent to Brew Ha-Ha the coffee shop run by one of her best friends, Alice "Pinky" Nelson. In Brew Ha-Ha while visiting with their other best friend, Erin,

The ladies find out that lowlife Jerrell Powers who broke into Erin's home and stole a bunch of items is back in town. No one in their circle of friends like the idea that he is back, especially childhood friend Officer Mark Weston and long-time grounds keeper Archie Newberry. Both of which have a soft spot for Erin. While hosting a snow globe making class the friends are introduced to Jerrell's ex-wife, May, who is teaching the class, Pamela Hemley, Jerrell's last known girlfriend and her sister, Lauren Engle.

Things get a little heated as everyone realizes who is who but the big excitement happens after the class when Camryn is closing up the shop, finds a mysterious snow globe with a scene of a man sitting on a bench then on the way home cutting through the park stumbles across the real life version. When it is confirmed that the murdered victim is Jerrell, the Assistant Chief Clinton Lonsbury, doesnt seem to want to leave Camyrn alone. Then her circle of friends begin to exclude her and whisper behind her back making her question if they are somehow involved Jerrell's untimely death.

This book will keep you on your toes turning pages as quickly as you can read the words. I highly recommend you dig in but be careful not to shake the snow globes.....

Featured Author: Constance Barker

We would like to introduce our featured author for today... Constance Barker. Constance is the author of the Caesars Creek Mysteries and the Sweet Home Cozy Mysteries.

Constance Barker lives in the Midwest with her husband and two Akitas where she can look out from her screened porch onto a wooded area brimming with activity. Since she was a young girl she read mysteries, often given to her by her grandmother. She loved figuring out who the culprit was and sometimes she was right and other times startled at who the author picked as the assailant. Now she enjoys writing mysteries herself. When she isn't writing stories, she can be found in her favorite vacation spot, Las Vegas or shopping for bargains.

Check out all of Constance Barker's books on Amazon.

With a ice-cream and coffee theme to them both of Constance's series look right up our alley. If you've read her books why not comment and tell us what you thought.

There are six books in the Cookie Cutter Mysteries, with the newest book coming in July, Dead Men Don't Eat Cookies.

Olivia's mom, Ellie, is always cooking up new schemes, but her latest idea has Livie and Maddie especially excited. Ellie's converting an old boarding house into an arts and crafts school—one that, of course, houses a kitchen for those interested in baking. But right as renovations start, the workers discover a pile of bones buried within the boarding house's walls, evidence of a long-forgotten crime.

A silver necklace with a cookie cutter charm is found within the remains, convincing one of the workers that the bones are the remains of her father, who's been missing for over five years. Of course, Livie and Maddie can't resist the allure of investigating. But they're about to discover that digging up the secrets of the past can be deadly dangerous...
